FIRST has announced changes in the FTC robot platform being used in 2008 season. Click here for more details. The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST competition but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit. FIRST piloted the competition for two years under the name 'FIRST Vex Challenge' until it was approved as an official program for the 2007 season. In March 2006 the FIRST Vex Challenge held one of six pilot program competitions in the country at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. The "New England Regional Vex Event" or NERVE, was held in conjunction with the FIRST Robotics Competition and was sponsored by United Technologies Corporation and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Forty teams from across the U.S. competed. Later that year the name of the competition was changed to "ConnVex" to reflect that it was one of several New England regional events. ConnVex was hosted and sponsored by the University of Hartford in December 2006 and 19 teams attended. The FIRST Tech Challenge Connecticut planning committee is busy planning our 2007 season competition. We're pleased to announce that this year's FIRST Tech Challenge Championship Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Manchester High School, Manchester, CT.
