CT FIRST News: FRC3125 Bus Accident
Read a statement from FIRST Robotics Competition Team 3125.
On Saturday, January 9, 2010 while on their way to the FIRST Robotics Competition Kick-off event at Farmington High School, rookie team 3125, the Pirates of the Pythagorean, was involved in a bus accident.
Vikas Parikh, 16 years old, from Rocky Hill and a student at Rocky Hill High School and the Greater Hartford Academy of Math and Science, died as a result of this accident. All the students, the teacher and bus driver were transported to local hospitals. If you wish, you can make an online condolence at www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
FIRST President Paul Gudonis issued the following statement:
"Our hearts and the hearts of the entire FIRST community go out to the victims of this terrible accident and those of their families during this very difficult time. FIRST is currently assessing the situation and how best we can support the most immediate needs of our students, their families, parents, coaches and peers involved in this tragedy. "
The response from the worldwide FIRST community has been gracious and overwhelming. CT FIRST is working with the GHAMAS administration and Team 3125 to collect and coordinate these offers of support and well wishes. As of Monday, January 11th, the teacher, bus driver and most of the students have been treated and released from area hospitals.
