FIRST Receives the Endorsement of the Connecticut Association of Schools
The Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS), a non-profit organization working to strengthen elementary and secondary education in Connecticut, announced that FIRST has received the endorsement of the state’s board governing activities and athletics.
CAS closely examined the length and breadth of FIRST robotics programs, and were impressed with the emphasis on life-skills in FIRST programs, especially teamwork and Coopertition and found that FIRST programs easily exceeded goals not only for enhancing skills in math and science, but also the problem-solving disciplines. In receiving the CAS endorsement, FIRST programs underwent a focused review of the educational impact of the mostly after-school program.
"FIRST is deeply honored by the endorsement of the CAS,” said Paul R. Gudonis, President of FIRST. “It is truly gratifying that the Connecticut Association of Schools is giving its unqualified support and endorsement of the impact that FIRST programs are having on young people, but also society in general. We are looking forward to a continued, successful collaboration.”

Savage, Executive Director of the Connecticut Association of Schools. “We are excited about the impact that FIRST programs are having in Connecticut schools, and that’s why it’s a pleasure to be able to signal our endorsement of the world's most effective and fastest growing organization devoted to inspiring young people to seek the knowledge and professional attitudes they need to solve the world's problems.”
Educational studies have consistently confirmed that if the next generation of young people are going to take on the challenges of the 21st century, they’ll need to hone their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
CT FIRST is Connecticut’s planning and operating organization for FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
